A close-up film photograph of a dried teasel plant standing upright, its spiky oval head surrounded by delicate, curling tendrils. The background is filled with soft green foliage and circular bokeh highlights, creating a dreamy, out-of-focus atmosphere.

In October 2024,
we visited Elevated Park in St. Thomas.

Autumn had just begun to settle in.

The landscape was changing —
not fully golden yet,
not fully green anymore.

Some plants had already dried into brittle browns,
while others still held onto their deep summer green.

It felt like a quiet in-between season.

This teasel caught my eye.

Curled. Spiked. A little rough.
And yet strangely elegant.

Nothing about it tried to be beautiful,
but it was.

Film has a way of holding these small, overlooked moments —
the textures, the light, the softness around the edges.

Not the grand view of the park,
but one wild stem standing alone,
still graceful as it fades.

A small reminder
that beauty doesn’t disappear with time —
it simply changes its shape.
